Bat City Review

bat

I love Austin, TX.  Granted, I've only been there once, and to be honest I was drunk and/or eating delicious food the entire time, (or dancing), and so my view of it might be delightfully skewed, but that place is rad.  One of the things that makes it rad is Bat City Review, out of UT-Austin.  And so, I am thankful to say that my piece 'c:\run thelxiope.exe' will be featured in Bat City Review 6 and I couldn't be happier.

Upon reading my gigantic Excel spreadsheet of failure where I keep tally of my submissions (i.e. rejections) I noticed that I submitted to Bat City Review three years ago when I was just learning about the terrifying world of submitting my work to journals.  I had completely forgotten about this until now, so there was obviously something neat that caught my eye back then when I knew nothing of the literary magazine world, and so this is a nice little 'full-circle' publication and as a result it makes me feel extra cool.  Not to mention all of the people I've met over the years that have worked for Bat City Review or were down at UT-Austin have been the sweetest and nicest people on the planet, so it's an extra-feel good moment for me.

My piece c:\run 2.exe has been accepted for publication in Arch Magazine 3.  Haines Eason, the editor over at Arch made some pretty stellar edits to my piece, and so many many thanks go out to him!  I'm excited to see it in print.  Huzzah!

300 Reviews

My review of the movie 300 is, ironically (or purposefully, you be the judge!) is on 300 Reviews.

300 Reviews is the brainchild of my good friend Jeremy Hawkins; the general conceit is to write reviews of various things in 300 words or less.  Keep checking out the site as I have an inside track to the awesome stuff that's gonna be going up on there.  It's gonna be awesome.  Trust me.

The Collagist

headerHi all,

My piece Simon's Quest is up at The Collagist.  I am super excited to be published in such an awesome magazine with some really fantastic writers such as Lance Olsen, Melissa Pritchard, Kate Peterson, Arlene Ang, and Cooper Renner among some others.  Definitely a huge honor.

Also, keep your eye open for some forthcoming Brian Oliu action on The Collagist blog in the upcoming weeks.
